Connecting communities
Synergy Days, October 2024.
Dear Synergy Days family,
As we close this year’s Synergy Days, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that has come together to make it such a success. Over the years, this community has grown into a thriving ecosystem that embodies engagement, collaboration, and shared purpose.
When we first started the Synergy Days, it was centered around just a few projects. Now, the scale and impact of this initiative are undeniable. We are truly bridging communities—bringing together diverse stakeholders, including the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), to work towards a shared vision. This year’s edition has been no exception, with remarkable highlights that showcase the innovation, creativity, and determination of everyone involved.
Reflecting on Our Journey
Two years have passed since the closing of the SmartAgriHubs (SAH) project, but its spirit continues to thrive through this vibrant community. What began as a project has evolved into a powerful legacy, carried forward by professionals, organizations, and individuals dedicated to the digital transformation of agriculture. Beyond Synergy Days, initiatives like GAIA, a frontrunner in addressing gender inequalities in the agricultural sector, are shining examples of what has emerged from this great community.
Additionally, digital tools like the Synergy Portal ensure that projects remain connected, ideas are shared, and progress is collectively driven forward. It is this ability to connect the dots and bring communities together that has truly defined our collective journey—and much of this success stems from the leadership and vision of George.
Honoring George’s Impact
From his work on IOF2020 to leading SmartAgriHubs, George has been the driving force behind connecting ideas, people, and projects. His ability to engage stakeholders across sectors and countries has been extraordinary. When it comes to Synergy Days, George brought together diverse projects and organizations, creating a collaborative environment where everyone could contribute and excel.
In the SAH project, George not only managed a complex network of stakeholders but also ensured its long-term sustainability by empowering the next generation of leaders. His unwavering advocacy for the digitalization of agriculture—building bridges across Member States and partnerships—has left a profound and lasting impact.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, we are thrilled to see how the spirit of Synergy Days is taking root at the national level. An example of this is the upcoming Synergy Days Netherlands, and we are confident that other countries will follow suit in the near future. This is only the beginning of what we can achieve as a united community.
To everyone who has contributed to this journey—thank you. Together, we are shaping the future of digital agriculture, and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
Warm regards,
Lorena & George
